Gen X managing older staff

For a Gen-X manager taking on the role of communicating and adapting to the learning styles of older employees can be challenging. All of our communication methods, operating styles, values, and environment in which we like to surround ourselves are viewed in very different ways throughout the different generational groups.
An older employee may feel devalued or have a hard time coping with the management style of someone who is younger. Whereas, a younger boss may feel that he/she is unable to communicate effectively with an older employee, who may not be as technologically savvy as his/her younger counterparts.
The Gen TeamR offers solutions to problems such as these by using the Gen COVER Index in which we survey each individual team member to plot out where one's individual styles fall on the chart.
When using this in a team exercise, it gives great insight into who we are, where we fit best, and the best ways to learn from and deal with each other in the workplace.
